Esthetic dentistry is committed to tooth restoration for both esthetic and functional purposes.   And a key element to achieving a more youthful appearance is by rejuvenating your smile, which is at the center of your face.

Modern dentistry has many tools to restore teeth in a natural looking, more beautiful fashion. The combination of sophisticated bonding technology, along with the development of durable, enamel-like restorative materials, is making techniques - like the use of silver fillings - rapidly become a thing of the past.

A cosmetic restoration may be any of the following:

  • A porcelain veneer that is bonded to the front surface of your teeth
  • An all ceramic cap (full crown) that has no metal
  • An inlay (a tooth-colored filling)
  • An onlay (a tooth-colored filling)

Through the use of new materials and techniques, the color, shape, and texture of teeth can now be changed and strengthened for restorative purposes. This can be achieved with minimal damage to the tooth surfaces or the surrounding tissue, and while maintaining or improving esthetic quality.

While esthetic dentistry is certainly optional, it should not be viewed as a frivolous indulgence. Improving one's appearance can boost self-confidence and improve quality of life. Patients usually feel renewed and attractive after an esthetic dentistry procedure. And while some patients tend to hide their mouths before the procedure, they typically leave the dental office with a huge smile on their face.

Smile Analysis Before and AfterWe would like to offer you the option of Smile Analysis.  Prior to having any cosmetic work done, we can show you "before" and "after" pictures of exactly how your smile would look after correction or enhancement.

The first step in smile analysis is for your dentist to give your teeth a complete dental check-up, including the use of x-rays.  Afterwards, your smile analysis will consider many variables: tooth shade, distribution of color, defects and discoloration of the tooth structure, crowding, spacing, visible fillings or crowns, shape and size of teeth, and the amount of gum tissue shown when smiling.

We book a consultation appointment for you, which uses digital imaging to preview exactly what your desired final smile can look like.  After we all agree upon the final objectives, we create a treatment plan to accommodate those goals.

When we're finished, the new restorations will be undetectable…all that you'll see is a healthy, happy new smile that won't quit!

Porcelain VeneersPorcelain veneers are thin sheets of porcelain laid over your existing teeth. They are most commonly used to correct discoloured, damaged or mis-shapen teeth. They are also effective in closing gaps between teeth.

Porcelain veneers are extremely strong and realistic in appearance. They are slightly translucent and as a result, are very natural in appearance. The veneer is permenantly bonded to the tooth, allowing light to gently pass through it just like a natural healthy tooth would.

Porcelain is not only translucent but it is very strong. Another benefit is that its surface is resistant to stains. Coffee, tea, tobacco and even red wine have no effect on the brilliant white of today's porcelain veneers.

If you would like to improve your smile with porcelain veneers, please call us so we can find out what your needs and goals are. We can help you find a solution that works best to give you the smile you've always wanted and certainly deserve!

Dental crowns and bridges offer a solution to missing teeth.

CEREC 3 MachineCrowns, sometimes referred to as "caps" can correct years of embarrasing and often painful dental problems. Crowns are needed when the integrity of a natural tooth is compromised. This happens when it is chipped, cracked or has had a large filling placed in it. In order to strengthen the natural tooth a dental crown in placed over top of it.

Bridges are units of false teeth that are fixed to remaining natural teeth to fill a gap. A bridge may take the place of one or more missing teeth and the results can be excellent with good function and aesthetic results. With careful maintenance a well-made bridge can last many years.

The CEREC Advantage - First, the damaged or decayed portions of the tooth is removed and a new tooth, or crown, is permanently bonded to the remaining healthy tooth. We will prepare and insert your crown in the same visit. We know your time is precious. For your convenience, our CEREC® machine allows us to prepare your crown while you are sitting in our examination chair.

Thanks to the CEREC Computer Restoration System®, we can provide you with a customized crown in just one visit! After your compromised tooth is prepared, it is scanned with an electronic camera that allows you to see the image on a video monitor as you sit in the dental chair. The new, permanent crown is designed from this scan and then automatically milled out from a solid ceramic block. This is accomplished so precisely and quickly that the new, all-ceramic crown can be permanently bonded to your tooth in that appointment.

Our CEREC crowns are ceramic, which has the same characteristics as a normal, healthy tooth. It can withstand the daily grind of chewing and is not affected by hot or cold temperatures.

Is there a small defect in your smile that always draws your eye in the mirror? A chip in a front tooth, some worn edges, or shallow pits or grooves in the tooth enamel are all minor issues, but they do stand in the way of having a perfect smile.

When you look at an attractive smile, not only do you see beautiful teeth, but you also notice the gum tissue that is symmetrically draped around each tooth.

Healthy, well-contoured, pink gum tissue compliments and frames the teeth. The esthetic framing of the gum tissue is as important to the teeth as a quality frame is to a painting. Gum tissue that is red and swollen, and unsymmetrical in appearance detracts from teeth that are otherwise healthy.

The cosmetic "gum or tooth lift" is a remarkably simple cosmetic procedure that can make a tremendous difference to one's smile. Tooth contouring and reshaping generally takes place in one visit to the dentist's office, although a follow-up visit is sometimes necessary. Using various tools, the dentist will carefully polish off small areas of the tooth surface enamel and then reform the tooth into a more attractive shape. The edges of the newly shaped tooth are smoothed and polished, completing the procedure. After contouring, the teeth are more uniform in shape and size making them appear less crowded ... and eye-catching imperfections are gone.

Gum contouring is another conservative procedure which can make a significant contribution to the enhancement of a smile. Gum tissue can make your teeth look short or can cover more of your smile than is necessary to protect it. Gum tissue esthetic therapy can correct these smile concerns. Esthetically contouring a gummy smile can improve confidence and give you the smile you've always wanted.
